The town of Estartit belongs to the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí (Baix Empordà), in the Province of Girona. The quickest access is from the A-7 motorway, taking exit number 6, Girona North, direction Verges - L'Estartit.
The Islas Medes archipelago (21.5 Hectares) is formed by seven small islands and the odd reef situated at almost a mile from the coast.
